St. Vincent is a unique grape native to Missouri. There are two theories on its origins: the first is that St. Vincent was a natural hybridization in the vineyard between Pinot Noir and Chambourcin. The second theory is that Pinot Noir, prone to mutation, adapted to better survive Missouri's conditions. We follow the second train of thought and vinify our St. Vincent similar to the classic grape. The nose expresses crushed raspberry, cranberry and tart cherry. Purple flowers and forest underbrush lead into subtle traces of oak spices. The palate is silky and light with evolving layers of fruit and earth and a long, bright finish.
Composition: 90% St. Vincent, 10% Chambourcin; 100% Missouri River Vineyard
Elevage: 15% whole cluster; aged 20 months in 10% new French Oak
